WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Directive

The British Government has introduced legislation; The Waste Electrical and Electronic
Equipment (Producer Responsibility) Regulations 2006 known as the ‘WEEE Regulations’ which will implement a European Union directive commonly known as the ‘WEEE Directive’.

Under the WEEE Regulations, lighting manufacturers and any importers such as LKL
Lighting Limited are required to finance the collection, treatment, recovery and environmentally sound disposal of lighting equipment.

Non household luminaires and gas discharge lamps fall within this category of WEEE and so, in anticipation of the disposal cost that we will be financing in respect of nonhousehold luminaires with effect from the implementation of this Directive and Regulations, we are required to and will be charging a recycling cost in respect of all non household luminaires and lamps supplied after the implementation of the WEEE Regulation, 1st July 2007.

LKL Lighting Limited is registered with Lumicom Limited who will undertake the responsibility for the recycling of lighting products LKL supply. They will have collection and disposal points throughout the UK set up specifically to meet the recycling requirement of the lighting industry.
